In July and August of 2002 the Rolling Stones holed up at the Masonic Hall in Toronto to rehearse for their upcoming “Licks” world tour. Prior to hitting the road they played a surprise gig at the Palais Royale in front of 800 lucky fans who paid just $10 each for tickets. This show marked the first time “Don’t Stop”, “I Can’t Turn You Loose,” & “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” were ever played live. These songs were destined to become mainstays during the tour that followed. Other gems performed were “Sad, Sad, Sad,” “If You Can’t Rock Me,” “Stray Cat Blues,” “Hot Stuff,” “Torn and Frayed,” and “Heart of Stone.”
