5 studio tracks and about 30 minutes of music, this is an artifact of the SF 60’s scene. The SF Nights series totaled 16 volumes and showcased most all of the known bands who played the ballrooms in the late 60’s. Vol 16 had 13 tracks including the 5 here and additional tracks from Lamb and Santana. Not sure why this only contains the first 5 which feature Joplin on vocals. As for what is here, Bloomfield adds some good guitar in mostly moderate doses which is a good thing and Janis does her overcooked vocal thing which is not a good thing in my book. The good – Bloomfield playing guitar. The bad – Joplin screaching on vocals and over half of the proper tracks for Vol 16 are not on this disc. 3 stars
