More Notes:
“Doin ‘That Crazy Thing” backed with “Goin’ Down to Rio”, in the summer of 1977.
It was released with two covers: one with a photo of his face with many weird pictures on the side in black and white and one colored with an instruction how to do the “Crazy Thing”.
It was the first time his name appeared as principal, and not the name of a band. Although the Electric Light Orchestra were enjoying major success in the singles and albums charts at the time, it received very little airplay, no TV exposure, and did not chart.
“I love the force of disco. I love the freedom it gave me to make different rhythms across it. I enjoyed that really steady driving beat. Just steady as a rock. I ve always liked that simplicity in the bass drum.” – Jeff Lynne
“Video!” is a song by Jeff Lynne from the soundtrack to the film Electric Dreams in 1984. It is one of two songs that Lynne and keyboard player Richard Tandy provided for the film’s soundtrack. The single version is 3:26 in length, while the version included in the film is longer, at 4:18. The chorus of “Video!” is originally taken from the unreleased Electric Light Orchestra song “Beatles Forever”, which was originally to have appeared on the album, Secret Messages, when it was planned to be a double album. The song failed to chart in the U.S. and only reached #85 in the U.K. charts.
